Traditional Hand Blown Christmas Ornaments

Individually hand blown using the same methods glassblowers have used since antiquity, these ornaments are a holiday classic just like great great great great great grandma may have had. I make these Christmas balls in a variety of colours, (see the link below for more examples) including the multicoloured one pictured here. Each ornament begins life as liquid glass in a special glassblowing furnace, from which it's pulled and blown by mouth into a hollow sphere. During this process colour is added, which melts and is allowed to flow and combine throughout ornament, making each ball truly one of a kind: the color will never mix in the same way twice. While the piece is still hot a small glass loop is added to the top to make for easy hanging from a Christmas Tree or any other place one could wish to hang it, and finally it is slowly cooled over the course of 24 hours in a special glass kiln to ensure the glass is very strong and will last a lifetime. The measurements above should thus only be taken as an average, with some balls being larger and others being smaller.
